Major Case Squad has been internationally recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, International Homicide Investigators’ Association, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and National Conference for Crimes Against Women and Children.



The Major Case Squad is an investigative unit made up of police investigators from police departments on both sides of the Mississippi River.  When a serious crime occurs, the Major Case Squad is activated and the investigators are assigned to assist the local police department with the investigation and prosecution of the suspects involved in the case.  The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is recognized as being one of the top investigative squads in the United States and has a clearance rate of over eighty percent (80%) on the cases they are involved in.   


Geographical Area Covered by Major Case Squad in 1965.  Missouri counties were Franklin, St. Charles, St. Louis County, and Jefferson County.  Illinois counties included Madison, St. Clair and Monroe.
